looking at getting a pistol in the near future??

any guns you recomend? I got about 1k to spend.. I have a 1911, 357, and a 25 caliber, Got my eyes set on 3 weapons.. .44 Raging Bull, USP45, P229 Sig in .40...

not sure which one..

are the XD's as good as everyone is saying?

To each there own, is my opinion here. My suggestion is to go and shoot each of them to see which you prefer more. You may have an idea that you will like a particular pistol and when you shoot it, that opinion can change.
I have personally shot the USP45, 229 and the XD. I liked them all, and they all shot comparably for me, granted the sig and XD were in 9mm.

not goin to lie i love seeing common sense posts like this. not just "go buy a HK45c its awesome" lol, follow AS's opinion go shoot everything you can and buy a quality brand that fits you. you really can't go wrong with S&W, sig, glock, HK, springer, etc

i have shot all 4 of them, and I liked them all, when your in a gun buying mood your not in the right mind I believe, so thats what I am asking is from the people who have owned them and shot them past 30 rounds and what they like.. I will have a raging bull someday i love the gun, but I have always been in love with the HK series.. i dotn think i can go wrong with any of them, I just want to hear the opinions

well my .02 is the sig or HK. sigs are awesome guns, so are HK's i highly reccomend looking at the HK 45 and 45c though.

HK has a "squishy" feeling recoil. That's the only way I can describe it. The recoil is very soft but the muzzle rise is greater than the Sig.

Sig 229 is one of the nicest firing handguns I've ever had other than a custom 1911. P229 feels wonderful in the hand as well.

You have to fire both and see what you like. They all have a COMPLETELY different feel to them.

I bought an XD before firing it. For some reason, I was not comfortable with it. I sold it to my brother who loves it though.

I personally like Glocks. The recoil is sharper but the muzzle doesn't rise as much. I think this is becuse the really low barrel axis.

Ruger SR9 or SR9c, and MKII Comp. Target Model. Your list does not include a 9mm or a 22cal. Both are very common rounds, very useful to have. Plus, you can buy both and ammo for each with your $1000.

What are you going to use it for? Rage time? Home defense? Carry gun? The intended use will change the reccomendation in my mind.

I have a .40 for my carry peice, but my favorite range gun is actually my Glock 17C. Its just a great gun and I never get tired of shooting it - fits my hand like a glove.

Anyhow like the man said - shoot all of them as much as you can and buy whatever feels best for you. They are all good choices, although personally I have not liked the XDs I have shot.

its more of a fun gun, I do have a .22, i have a beretta bobcat thats my carry. but I will end up owning probably all 4 of them at some point in my life. like I said before, I shot them all, I definitely like that Sig and HK better then the XD, the Taurus is more of a OMG that gun is so sick buy. Probably highly un-practical. But I would love to have a .44.

but at the same time, I want to put together a AR-15 in .308 for when zombies start roaming the earth.. so..... Just trying to see what area I should tackle first

FWIW I love my 229 40. Really well designed, great shooter, fits my hand right, and I shoot the 40 better than 9mm by a good margin.

Since you already have a 1911, why not get a XD in 357Sig? Or another that comes in 357Sig? That is my current favorite pistol round that isn't a 45
