Any ideas where one could get some 4"and 8" plates for rimfire? 1/4"-5/16" mild steel should work. I just need plain ole plates, no holes, no mounts. Looking for about 5 4" and 2 8"

The cheaper the better.

Thank You
Patrick Scott

Patrick,

Ryan at BIG DOG STEEL sells many different types of steel targets and with the 4X4 post bracket the targets are angled properly to put the round into the ground and not back at the shooter. Personally, I feel (from a safety standpoint) it is much better to spend more on the target so it is safe....will be much cheaper than a visit to the ER.

Any scrapyard should have a myriad of shapes in scrap metal. Doubt you will find cheaper. drill holes and hang them. Good for pistol as well.

Thanks for info. I do always angle my targets, but as these will not all be mounted on identical stands so I need just the plates to weld up my own mounts. I am safe about it, thanks for your concern.

How about some zombie targets:

best place. go to a local junk yard. go and walk around until you find some mild steel 1/4" thick or larger. then have them cut out your targets with a torch. they won't be the prettiest due to the jagged torch cut but once lightly sanded and painted they work great. I have LOADS of targets made from 3/8" mild steel.
