Been looking at the USO SN4 1.5-6x. I like that the Leupold MK8 is goes to 8x but about 2x the cost of the USO. Anything else I should look at? I want more than a 4x option. I'm going to be using this as a medium range hunting/target scope

I'm wanting a MOA reticle because thats what I'm used to. I'm not sure if I'd be opposed to a MIL reticle because I can just print out a range card to match yardage.

Re: Looking for a medium Range Optic

I'm trying to keep the low end magnification <2x for hunting purposes. I'll be hunting with sub loads and so typical distance will be 15-75 yards. So thats why I'm looking at the <2x magnification. I only need the higher end magnification for the occasional non typical 100-200 yard shot.

For target I'll be engaging full power shots 50-300 yards so I which is why I don't need more than 6-8x

Re: Looking for a medium Range Optic

I just came across the thread on the IOR 1-10x26 and also saw the IOR 1.5-8x26

the 1-10x is waay more than I wanna drop on an optic so I may wait to see if they lower that price. the 1.5-8 looks like what I may want but need to find out if they can do an MOA reticle instead of a BDC

With these requirements, I would suggest the Burris XTR 1-4x scope. It's a true 1x (so it would be like using an aimpoint), and 4x is more than adequate out to 300 yards in my opinion.

Re: Looking for a medium Range Optic

I've got a NF 2.5-10x and did not enjoy shooting it past 500. My thin NP-R2 reticle & no parallax are a bad combo. I feel Mil-dot is a must for this scope.

I think the USO 1.5-6x is a sweet scope. If you've got the coin, I would also consider SN3 1.8-10x.

When I swap out my NF, I'm going USO 1.8-10x, EREK, and must have parallax.

I'm going out this Saturday to do some test firing for a shop I work for. I'm going to bring a ACOG to see if I really need more than 4x

I have an SN3 1.8-10x on my AR10 and love it, Its a little overkill for what I'm looking to use the gun for. Like I said, I'm going to try out an ACOG this weekend to see if 4x is sufficient. If it is, then I'll have a lot more options for scopes
