I have a S&W 686 with a 6 inch barrel. I want to swap to a 4 inch barrel and my local guy (Los Angeles area) has a 3 month lead time. Does anyone have a guy they can recommend? Local would be nice but I am ok with shipping the gun as well.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Might also consider selling and buying the one you want. Very likely makes the most sense.
If I didn't live in CA that is what I would do. Because I live in CA and am limited to buying what is on an ever shrinking roster (or paying obscene prices for off roster guns) a barrel change is pretty much my best option.

He is, but still getting after it all these years later.

One of the Power jobs I had was a Mod 29 Smith with a round butt of a K frame Smith welded on and stippled. I shot that one more than any other CF revolver I ever owned. Basically wore it out. Long gone now.
