I have done some research and can't find the perfect scope. I'm building a ar grendel pistol and want it all super light, mil dot reticle, 30 mm tube, and anything over 11 inches just looks way too long, bad reason but anyhow. Idc about sfp vs ffp as long as the mil reticle is correct at max magnification power. Here are some of the models I liked but didn't love:

Viper 1-4 pst , good reticle, would like more magnification
Viper 2.5 -10. Awesome just too long and heavy
Leopold vlx 1.25-4, 3-9. Just about perfect but I'm concerned about price to value proposition. I would probably get one if I could find one for 33% less than the swfa price.
Trijicon acog. Probably what I should go with short and light. I just want a mil reticle and am not excited about paying a dime for a 3x scope. Is there somewhere u can get them for cheap and do they make a mil reticle? They make models for lots of caliber specific trajectories just not for what I'm doing so I guess I would need to plot mine oUT and order the closest one.
Burris mtac 3.5 x 10. A little heavy and a bit high of a low power. and I have never really liked a Burris scope all the other brands mentioned I either own or have used and like.
Nightforce 2.5x10. Another scope I should strongly consider. But it's kinda heav long and pricey but totally worth it. Can I find a mil version on the ee for close or under 1k?

The purpose of the rifle is a truck gun / 300 yard an in deer and hog slayer. I also prefer higher magnification cause I'm not as good of a shot as I should be. But a 3 or 4 power top end shouldn't be a deal breaker cause I can always carry binocs to better aquire and judge animals before I shoot them.

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions of other scopes or places where I could find an acog or Leopold for less. Budget is a dimish but I'd love to only spend a 5 ball.

Thanks I will look for the patrol, and I love swfa they are just heavy and I would like to save weight on every part in the build....but it's still a good option just wish it was 6 Oz lighter. I have ther 3-15 and think it's the best deal in precision optics....

Elcan s are awesome but pricey. I luv swfa so scopes too there just too heavy for me on a light build. I'm gonna try a leupold vx patrol is my plan, I'm tryn to buy one used on the ee. I may go to an acog later we will see. If anyone has any other ideas let me know, I can always throw a 3-9 on just about everything that goes bang.

Cheap but good is the Weaver 3-10x40. It is listed at 16.6 oz.

Weaver Tactical Grand Slam Rifle Scope 3-10x 40mm 1/10 Mil Adjustments

They are normally $300 but currently on sale for $260. If you decide you don't like it you wont lose money selling it. I have 2 and have had great luck with them. One is currently on my comp. gun until my 5-25 scope comes in. I don't feel like I'm at a disadvantage at all.

I know it is right at the length limit and is not 30mm, but it's just one more to consider. I think you would be much happier with it than any of the 1-4x close range scopes.

Those weavers have tempted me for years. I want 30 mm for field of view, just started moving from inch to 30mm, pretty soon it will be 34 lol. That's a nice scope delixe but I spent my wad for now on a leupold vx someone mentioned was on the ee, and that was much appreciated by me. I haven't bought a leupold in a long time wonder if I will like it or notz. In hunting scopes I used to luv the lightweight 2-7 and 2.5-8 s but I guess they don't make those in tactical versions with 30mm mil mil and mil ret and Ill, and zero stop and.... lol thanks everyone for comments

Here's an interesting compromise. Blackhawk had a scope line for a time but is now discontinued. The existing backlog is being heavily discounted. I saw the 3-9x40 at my LGS and I was impressed with the quality of the glass. Weight is only 13.0 oz. It is mildot reticle with target MilRAD turrets. The scope is made in Japan and that tells me the quality is probably better than other scopes at this ultra-low price range:

BlackHawk 3-9x40 Mil-Dot Rifle Scope Black Matte (71TS01BK)

The downside is that is does not feature an adjustable objective. They have an FFP 3-15x50 (with side focus?) but that is a heavier unit.
