I am looking for sources for empty chamber/bore indicators for both pistols and rifles that have a long rod or something that sticks out the end of the barrel. I need these for an LEO training environment. I need to be able to place the indicator in the chamber just like dropping a round in the empty chamber by hand and then be able to close the action. The idea is to have an empty weapon with the action closed but have a visual indicator sticking out the end of the barrel to indicate an empty weapon. The rod or "tail" sticking out the barrel would be trimmed to an appropriate length for different barrel lengths. Any ideas?

Such items are used within the swedish police on regular basis and likely produced locally. À better solution is the plastic barrels produced by bladetech.

That type will still not let you close the bolt completely on a bolt action. We do not need the flag part sticking out the side of the chamber. The type I am talking about uses only the part protruding from the end of the barrel as the indication the weapon is unloaded.
The only thing I have found smilar to what we need is this: http://store.vikingtactics.com/merchant2...;Category_Code= This is for traing/using the weapon in realistic training and rehearsals. Things sticking out of the chamber will not work. Thanks for the suggestion.

how about a plain old wooden dowel from a hardware store, just a little smaller than the bore of your rifle and just paint the end the color of your choice

Starting that quick project today. Thanks so much for the great and practical idea.

I like to use old wine corks with a small hole drilled through them, pull a brightly colored zip tie of what ever length you choose thru the hole.
Many corks are avail in orange/yellow,so they are bright enough to be seen from a good distance.
Insert Zip Tie in to chamber with cork hanging out.
Cheap and easy to do.
