Looking for honest true advice on build

Please have some sort of knowledge of what I'm preaching before telling differently. I just sold a tikka ctr. Sitting in a new.mcmillan stock and the caliber I'm thinking of is a 300nm. Which from my understanding cant be done on a tikka action
What other actions should I look into?
Barrel twitst?length?
ACTIONS USED FOR PREFIT BARRELS OUT THERE? This is going to be long rand steel and elk rifle. Needs to be fairly like. And will be running a 30cal. On it. Dont need to carry a huge barrel around..what about different ca))l8brrs to look at? Dont care about barrel life. Just needs to shoot. What trist? And prefit ti kill time on labor?

I have a lot of experience with a variety of different actions, but I know nothing about 300NM or what it could be used best in so I guess that kinda moots my point

Defiance Deviant can be ordered with the correct bolt body and bolt face size, as well as the Surgeon 1581 XL.

Get a 1:9 or 1:10 twist. Carbon fiber if you want to stay light, maybe 26".

I would personally just get a .300WM if it's a hunting gun - this is coming from a guy who has a .300NM and loves the cartridge.

Actions:
AXMC, DT, ARC Mausingfield, Surgeon, Cadex, Sako TRG, Barret MRAD, and I think Bighorn may have a lapua length action.

The AXMC will be the easierst barrel swap and prefits, with DT and Barret being next. The rest may require an action wrench and a vise.

Barrels:
Any major manufactuer (Bartlien, Proof, Krieger, Hawk Hill, etc.) in 26” or more.

I’d also look at a 300WM. Ask yourself if you’ll be actually shooting 2000+ yards. If so, go 300NM, if not, go 300WM and save your money and barrel. A good 300WM with solid bullets (Cutting Edge, WTC Flatline). Be honest with yourself here, don’t fantasize shooting 2 miles when you’ll never see 2k (like me, I’ll never (probably) see past 1,200, so I’ll most likely never buy a magnum).

Thanks for the replies guys! I'm out here in montana and we do alot of long range shooting. Plenty of 2k ranges we use but mostly play with the 50s on them or 6.5cm for 1400yards and in. This is going to be a all around rig for target and hunting big game. Not just a paper puncher. I've owned plenty of 300wm and they made me go back to the 260win or 6.5cm. Just because there is nothing my 6.5cm cant do that my 300wm did minus long range elk drops(1500 yards)
My main reason is I just wanted something different. Another all around caliber. But looking into the 300nm, that extra lbs in the action. Along with burning up barrels quicker. I was also debating the 6.5x284. That way I really could have a switch barrel set up. Minus bolt heads. Think they are different. As far as barrels. I'd like to go with proof but have had some that a wicked and some that after 5 shots they are all over the place. They are local to me and have always supported the community and a stand up company....it honestly sounds like I just need to start building multiple rifles

The main issue with 6.5 overbores like the 7, is the mass for the misses at the distances your looking to shoot. I am sure you know that just teeing it up.

If I ever go for a long action, I'll look at straight .284 and 7mm Shehane pretty carefully, I think they probably outperform the 6.5-.284 if you consider barrel life and energy down range.
