Hello everyone,

I'm simply seeking some information, insight, or anything anyone can offer me. So far, I've only shot my AR-15 in service rifle competitions with my state junior team. But I only have 1 more year with them since I'll age out. (Age limit on the junior team is 20) After that, I want to branch out a little from just service rifle shooting. F-Class has always looked fun to me, it's always held my interest. However, I have no idea where to start in terms of proper equipment, what rifle, what scope, or miscellaneous things. My budget will not be very high, maybe a 1000 dollars max. For a scope, I have something that could get me going, but so far it seems that it's not an ideal scope in the long run, so we can take that out of the equation for now. Mainly what I need is an idea of what rifle could I buy that would get me started. So far the R700 PS or VLS have been highly suggested, but I've not decided yet and wish to browse the market.

Any information would be most greatly appreciated and taken into consideration. Thank you all for your time.

Re: Looking to get started

I would make a grab on a Remington SPS Tactical 308 in the group buy section. Upgrade the stock, plan on upgrading the scope when you can. Pretty decent rifle for the money.

Re: Looking to get started

I've been looking at the SPS .308's. Seem pretty solid. But I'm lookin for a minimum 26" barrel. If I'm correct, and I'm usually NOT, the tacs only have a 20 or 22" (?)
This gun will be shot at 600, 800, and 1000 yards, so I'm looking for a heavy/long barreled .308.

Thanks for the tip and URL, Jong. This site was suggested by a friend from my rifle team, so I thought I'd at least make a post and see what turned up.
