I admit... I was taken by the "theory" of the scope. The quality of this scope sucks, the glass clarity is worse yet. I am looking for a scope to get my Ar-10 out to 1K. What should I look for in a better quality scope?

First you must define the mission.

What is "out to 1k"? Is that shooting steel plates and reactive targets or f-class/bencrest?

Next, what is the budget?

You can get it done for as little as 200 dollars (Bushnell Tactical 10X) or as much as 3400 dollars (S&B, Hensodlt etc...)

Personally, I am a huge fan of IOR, it gets you the most high end quality for the lowest price (IMHO). Figure 1500 - 1800.

Do you want FFP or SFP. Burris makes some very fine SFP tactical scopes, though the adjustments don't match the reticle. Can sometimes be had for around 500 - 600.

I like a variable FFP mil/mil scope. I have had great success with my Falcon Menace, though others haven't been so lucky. Can be had in the 4-14x for around 380.

Another excellent option, though SFP is the weaver grand slam tactical 3-10x from midway. Usually on sale for 300. An excellent scope.

Other wise look to the Bushnell elite tactical FFP series, Weaver tactical or Vortex PST. Anywhere from 750-850.
