Range Report Lot Number Question

Right now I am using the Hornady LeveRevlution 160 grain for my 30/30. Sunday at the range I was sighing in my 30/30 3 inches high at 100. I started shooting the bull with the guy who works the range and he looked at my boxes and saw different Lot Numbers on the box. He said that different lot numbers can shoot differently and that I had a 50/50 shot they would.

So I pulled a few out of the new box and they shot around the same, but it has me guessing now. I feel comfortable reaching out ot 300 yds with this ammo, but if I am not totally confident I will not take a chance on an animal.

saturday I emailed Hornady but have not yet heard back and I don't expect to until later this week.

Can anyone pass on some knowledge?

You already did what you need to, check the old lot and new lot against each other. If the new lot shoots about the same point of impact as the original lot then you are all set. Nothing to worry about.
