Had a perfect tuna trip yesterday - we went out of Venice, LA, with Go Long Charters (https://www.golongcharters.com/) - beautiful 42' Freeman catamaran with quad 300's, ran 280 miles total, 140 miles to their secret hunting grounds - hooked 10 sea pigs, AKA yellowfin tuna, landed 8, one I caught topwater wasn't a keeper. - easy ride on a smooth boat at ~ 40, 45 mph. Literally hooked up on the first cast and caught all of them within 3 hours in one spot then turned around and headed home, ended up with 190 lbs of tuna meat. Couldn't have asked for a better day - my twins first tuna fishing experience set their bar high.

Can't say enough good about Go Long and Captain Alex, on time, super professional, the best I've ever seen with regard to being patient with clients and keeping lines clear considering how many times he hooked us up on 2 at once. I will chose them again without a second thought.

Got a friend down there now on the Huk Freeman. They hit mostly Blackfins and ARS's but caught good. Venice is a great place for tuna, reds and teal hunting. Freeman makes a nice ride. It's a long way down the river and then out to the spots but the gulf has a much different normal sea state than here in NC.

I grew up in Virginia, near the Chesapeake Bay and great seafood.
Lived may years in the Coastal bend of Texas and great seafood.
Spent a bunch of time in California with friends and great seafood.

Lived the last 3 years in Oklahoma and New Mexico. Any idea how much great seafood is in Oklahoma? (Catfish and freswater trout isnt seafood).

I think I hate you right about now. Planning a trip to San Diego primarily to get some great seafood.

If I'd taken pictures of the ceviche and seared tuna we made tonight, then you might have reached hate...
