For those of us in Louisiana, there are not enough (if any) Tactical Rifle Matches in this State. Being said, I am trying to "test the waters" to see whom else would like to see these type of matches in Louisiana. If you like to shoot in these type matches but can't find the time to drive many hours to do so, reply to this message with your imterest and a contact email address. Together we can make this happen.

Thanks for your interest

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

As long as it's not in late July or august you can count in the Morris crew which would consist of 3 shooters and I'm pretty sure I could gather up one more really good shooter in NE LA.

Jazz, Zydeco (I don't know if it's spelled right), and boiled crawfish between stages

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

square box ranges can be VERY challenging,,,,,,if them that run it know how to make it so......with enough qualified people the round count and stages can be quite a hoot with little down time.

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

I know a couple of texas boys that will come. I think we shot together this weekend at 3 mils right. Were you in group three?

The sound track from "Shaft" will be set to play when you exit your vehicle Bolt. It's the least that can be done for you.

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

Long range alley - 1000yds
Palo alto in donaldsonville -600yds (paper only)
Plaqumines parish LEO range - 300yds

I can make target stands and some mild steel targets for ranges +700yds
Can also help with planning, sponsors, setup, etc.

If i can suggest, lets make this a two day match so we are not rushed to get all shooters in.

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

Spoke to Adam and the location is Long Range Alley in frierson la. He is a friend of the owner and will be talking to him this evening. What he is talking about is getting 12 guys that live somewhat close to put the tactical matches together and rent the use of the range for the matches. This is a very short overview. if you are interested in being involved send Adam your email address and contact information. Adam will contact you with more detailed information.

It won't.

The L.R.A. facility offers a huge amount of flexibility if utilized correctly. We ran a sniper comp there 2 years ago that encompased the 1K range, several of the small bays, the shoot house and the assault deck. Shots from 11yds to 1K and from all different positions. Rich Emmons ran last years 9/11 Memorial Comp at the same facility and had the same or better variations. Excellent facility. Stage design is pretty much limited to your imagination.

I can assure you that UKD based stages, Standards based stages, Scenario based stages, etc., etc. ...can be executed there with no range guessing advantages even for the locals.

Good luck with this project. I would definitely try to compete when I could get away from the shop.

A couple of us Okies shot the LRA course a couple years ago and would probably come back again if the pay out is good. We had a blast.

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

I'd like to support this match in any way possible. Can't promise that I'll be on the lines shooting but would be honored to contribute toward a prize table, etc. Just let me know what I can do to help get this off the ground & I'll see what I can do.

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

Gentlemen:
Thanks for the interest. Here are my thoughts:

Setting up a match requires a location, lots of time in planning and setup, not to mention targets, insurance, etc. It is a daunting task that while rewarding, does not allow the match director to participate / compete in the match. Because of this reason, I believe the true supporters / shooters of this style of match are hesitant to host one and the costs can be prohibitive. So, here is what I propose:

I would like to form a team/club of twelve (12) members. As a whole, this group would organize the business end of the matches; Finances, Sponsors, ROs, etc. This group would be divided into 4 teams of 3 members. Each 3 member team would be responsible for designing stages and running 1 of a total of 4 matches per year in Louisiana. The team that runs the match will not be able to shoot in that match, but will be able to shoot in the other 3 matches. For the first year, there will be a financial requirement (not yet determined) of the twelve member group to purchase the targets, supplies required for this endeavor. The benefit of this contribution is the guaranteed participation in 3 matches per year for FREE. The remaining revenues required for the first and subsequent years will come from the match participants who are not club members. The location in mind can support at least fifty (50) match participants.

The beauty of this club is that the insurance and legal issues will be set for the year. Once the targets are acquired, they can be securely stored at the range. Both of these benefits will greatly reduce the burden of hosting a match. The other, and most important benefit in my opinion, is the opportunity to compete 4 times per year in Louisiana!

If you would like to be a part of this group, there will be a commitment of time, resources and money. These commitments will be greatest for the first year, but will be reduced dramatically for year two (2) and beyond. Being said, please email me at [email protected] to express your interest.

Thanks
Adam

Re: Louisiana Tactical Rifle Match

I'm in and willing to work but let's be carefull to not suck the fun out of it for the twelve. What do they charge to rent the facility for a day? They have a shoot house also.
