What is the consensus on how low backpressure cans handle suppression and FRP? Things like the OSS and Surefire cans have been recommended to me for working well on the AR platform; how well do they do compared to more traditional style cans?

Full length low backpressure cans? No issue. Shorter ones can have some flash but I still prefer them. The sound at the ear for the shooter isn't as different because less noise is coming out of the port but for observers off angle for if you're in an enclosed space you'll see a significant difference between long and short cans.
I would not consider a high backpressure can for an autoloading rifle, period.
