Is there a difference between the Night Force BR and NXS series when it comes to gathering light in a low light hunting situation?? At longer ranges??

I have a few Zeiss and Swaro. rifle scopes. One of the reasons I like them so much is their ability at dusk and dawn. I am not experienced with NF scopes. Will the NF compete with the Zeiss and Swaro's in low light??

I am in the final stage of my purchasing decision and I just do not want to make a mistake. Some of you guys are probably laughing at all the questions I have asked, however I really want to get it right-my money is pretty tight.

I have asked a lot of questions on this forum about NF and upper end scopes. However this is the only forum I know of where people have actual experience with the products, instead of 'what they heard". Thank you for your comments, Tom.

Re: Low Light Conditions

i would go with the NXS, i just got rid of mine and i kinda wished i hadnt now. It gathered light extremely well under low light conditions. The BR model probably wont fit your need. The NXS should fit your bill pretty good

Re: Low Light Conditions

BR have less elevation but more magnification. They would have the same light gathering since they can use the same tube and glass. So at the same magnification and tube diameter you should have the same light gathering. Go with the NXS unless you are getting a bench rest rifle.

LOL, I would go with the NXS I love mine. </div></div>

I got family up in the Man/Logan/Kistler area.

Re: Low Light Conditions

Will the Nxs compete with a S&B or swaro at dusk and dark? no not realy, the Nxs does well, but with a S&B you feel like there is no dusk or dawn, its just always light

.
The Nxs's have more travel and a side paralax, the Br model Nf's have the same magnafication and an adjustable rheostat, but no side paralax. All that said, if money is tight, go with the NXS its all you could ever want and more, and will probably get you past shooting hours

Re: Low Light Conditions

I've been shooting with Leupold for about 8 years and just bought a NXS 6 months ago. The glass seems alot better to me, but be careful which reticle you choose. I've got the NP R2 reticle and at low light the reticle seems to disappear because of the fine lines. Also the scope is alot bigger than the leupold (if weight is a consideration). The NXS is much more durable than the leupold. To adjust the illuminated reticle brightness you have got to take a cap off and use a screwdriver so it is not something you will do on the fly. Set it at the house and leave it alone. As far as light gathering I think it is better and brighter than the leupold.
