LTR stock on SPS Tactical

Re: LTR stock on SPS Tactical

It will fit like it was made for it. There is no difference in a SPS Tactical 20" barreled action and an LTR 20" barreled action, abet that the LTR has the Fluted barrel, which means not a thing, as far as fit goes.

The LTR's have a lot better finish.

And the stock will fit great.

Re: LTR stock on SPS Tactical

I like the SPS-T barrel better than the LTR barrel. So it should look super good for a 'factory' rifle!

Think you can only torque to 50 with stock bottom metal, because the tapered head screws will crack the bottom metal at 65.

Re: LTR stock on SPS Tactical

The only difference between the 700 SPS Tactical and the LTR is the LTR barrel has flutes cut in it before they bead blast and parkerize it insted of just bead blasting and blueing it.

Maybe if you do it dozens of times and/or it doesn't fit correctly. If it fits correctly 65 inch-pounds isn't a problem.

I torque all of my remingtons at 65in-lbs and have never broken or cracked the stock bottom metal. This is on different rifles using a Bell and Carlson light tactical stock, an H-S precision M24A3 stock, and also a McMillan A-5 stock. I am not disputing the fact that some people have broken their bottom metal but in my experience you should be fine at the 65in-lbs setting. Just make sure that your torque wrench is actually properly calibrated before you use it.

Thank you.

Re: LTR stock on SPS Tactical

Put on the LTR stock last night, as suggested fits perfectly. Do not have a inch torque wrench, used a ft lbs wrench, tightened to 5 ft lbs. Need to get me a inch lbs wrench, suggestions?
