Moral of the story, dump every hard drive you have in the deep ocean at night if any one of your relatives commits a politically-charged crime. The net will be cast wide and deep and judges will sign off on the flimsiest of excuses to piss on your right to be free from unreasonable search and seizure.

Well, yeah. That goes without saying.

But that doesn't invalidate my point. If you're related to a mass murderer and the cops are desperate and under gigantic political pressure to figure it out, sooner rather than later they will look at the relatives.

Best to not give them anything to look into.

Just remember, kids, when all else fails ...

Or it could just be a setup by someone trying to make him "pay" because "there is no way the family didn't know". Soon as I clicked the headline earlier I thought "sure, bet they found it on his computer after getting an anonymous tip". Sure enough, they found it on his computer after getting an anonymous tip. A lot of people don't realize how incredibly easy it to get content onto someone else's system without them having any idea what happened. In any event, it will be the first claim he makes. Then LE IT and his legal team will look into it. Guess we'll know in a few weeks. What would be interesting is if they "lose" the drive, or he commits "suicide".

This is scary stuff. I have a friend who works IT security for his state govt. He told me that stuff like that could be on anyone's hard drive and they'd never know it. If true that's very troublesome, and an awful thing to frame somebody for.
