M 70 Question

Is a Win. M70 chambered in 264 win mag. considered a long action or magnum length action ?

I'm not sure, but I have a factory 223 that needed to have scope bases for a long action. Not sure if that's typical.

How old is it? M70's only came in 1 length until the 80's.

Probably made in the 60s, rifle was friend's, dad's . Barrel is gone/ bad/ worn out. At smith's for new barrel. Receiver has crapolla mounts and rings. He was going to order a rail but didnt know what length action....... Hence this thread.

The rear scope mount hole spacing is smaller on the “magnum” actions .330 ish i think. The long action spacing is .880 i think. I think 264 win would be long and not magnum.
