I have a M1A, specifically a NM 22" MA9827, it comes with a VLTOR rail pre-installed.

Here's an example picture:

I'm considering forking out the cash for a Sage EBR stock from clyde's armory.

Can anyone tell me their experiences, or weigh on their thoughts in regards to the pro's and con's with using either stock?

In regards to use, I target shoot but I also hunt. Some of my hunting trips require long walking distances (miles), but I don't mind the current weight of the VLTOR rail, I believe it's 12lb+ already loaded. If I do end up using a EBR, is there any market to sell this particular used stock I already have?

Sort of a strange duck. Usually see that type of rail on a 16-18" barrel. A 22" NM barrel is geared towards accuracy, certainly not CQB. The rail screams CQB as in light, optic, laser. Attaching things in the front band/gas cylinder assembly are is not conducive to accuracy in these rifles. I'm curious to know how it's attached up front. Unless you have a need for lights, lasers, etc., I'd pull that off there. Given your stated objectives, there are much lighter ways of mounting an optic.

Looks like a standard SA synthetic stock under the cluster. The Sage is going to be heavier and it's a pain to get the rifle in and out of it. Might consider a McMillan M1A. Same stock that's on the Supermatch. A less expensive solution would be a USGI fiberglass stock. They do have some flex if you use a bipod or sling up.
