I just picked up a NM M1A over the weekend. Pretty excited, I have wanted one of these for as long as I can remember. Will be taking it to the range tomorrow morning. Gonna see how well I can do with the irons before scoping it. Hopefully I will have a range report and some pics tomorrow.

It is a whole lot easier on the eyes using a scope, but the irons do just fine. I shot mine for quite some time before ever scoping it.

Congrats on you're first. They are a fun rifle to have. Don't forget the camera.

Don't be disappointed if it doesn't group as well as you want it to with irons. When I first got my NM, my scoped groups were 1/4 the size of my irons. Now I've shrunk my iron sight groups in half. That rifle has taught me more about marksmanship than anything else. Still have a ways to go though.
