M40 A1 Question??

When looking at pictures of the M40a1 rifle, I see on the left side of the reciever there are two screws close to the area where a bolt release would be,I know they didn’t have left side bolt releases, just wondering what there purpose is?? I was on the GAP WEB SITE and you can see them very clear. Thanks Charlie 112

Also, holes are on the side, they run horizontal!!

Yes, blow up the left hand view of the M40a1, look where the stock and reciever meet...towards the rear....

7980, hell, you might be correct, after looking closer at your picture....

Did they have the side mount on M40A1? The M24 definitely has the side screws.

No,the M24 alone was spec’d for match sights.

Fellows,
I asked ARMED GINGER about those screws up on the M40A1 build thread. He said they were on the OLD RECIEVERS to mount peep sites.... Just FYI
