I'm having a custom rifle built, I have a mcmillan m40a1 stock and it's been cut for a M40 barrel. I changed my mind on the barrel to a 700P . Will the stock have a straight 1.25 inlet or will it taper with the barrel. It's a Rock Creek barrel. I'm just trying to figure out how much extra space there will be. It shouldn't be too bad I'd imagine if it all tapers together. I've seen photos of a CHAOTE stock with a 1.25 straight inlet with a 700P barrel. It didn't look too bad but it would be nicer if it tapered.. Also if I really hate it how easy is it to put some type of bedding compound in the barrel channel and have it recut ?
