Went to the range and I didn't get the data I needed, some guy talked my time away and it got too dark to get the last few rounds over the chrono so I could leave with all my data. But based on the data I did manage to collect, I'm seeing that it appears impossible to achieve 2970fps from a 14.5" M4 using this load, even at maximum --25gr. I read of others going as high as 25.6, that the LC brass and 5.56 chambers can handle it and that M855 is hot anyway (which makes sense, the stock ammo I compared against the handloads did have more recoil).

So what do you guys use for M855 loads? H335 seems like a good powder, I got it back when it was hard to get and I have 10 pounds of the stuff, so I have to use it.

I'm using actual pulldown LC brass bought the year it was originally manufactured (ever seen that?) that's still primed and crimped (wish that guy could still get that brass!!!). Milspec primers which of course have magnum charges, so the H335 should be igniting properly...

Just afraid of going over the max load unless it's a common method for reaching 2970fps safely. So what say you all?
