I know this is old news to some but just wanted to reiterate that although the Sporter is labeled for centerfire use, it does work for 22LR once it is properly set up. I wanted something I could take to matches without breaking the bank. The V3 was highly considered but I didn’t need all the bells and whistles just for a quick pre match reading.
Use High 2 sensitivity setting and something like a Wiser mount for all the adjustments. I modded the bayonet a little and lopped off about 1/4” from the top. It gave me a little more adjustment.
Comparing it to my LabRadar this morning, the Sporter was anywhere from 1-8 fps faster in readings. I’m content with that. As far as read speed, it kept up as fast as I could cycle the bolt and torch off a round. It’s fine for $180.

Is the bayonet different than the V3? I have no issues my V3 with .22 except needing to set the sensitivity very high. Do you believe the Lab Radar speed is more accurate than the Magnetospeed?

Cosmetically for sure. Functionally I have no idea although I’ve read Sporters and V3 typically have the same accuracy. So maybe internals are the same??

As far as which is the accurate one I have no idea unless I compare it to another. I’m not sure 1-8 fps variance is going to make or break a shot.

Another data point on sporter from my vudoo (22" kukri) is I tried a friend's v3 and my sporter and 10 shot avg was 1 fps different. I mounted the sporter, with small spacer, on high 2. Picked up all shots.

I have done the same with my MagnetoSpeed Sporter - mounted on a bracket and cut 1/4" from the bayonet top. It is 100% reliable using Hi 2 sensitivity.
