Magnum primer or no magnum primer, that is the question.

Ok, i stocked up on some cci magnum small rifle primers during this last primer shortage (about 1500 of them) just in case i run out of regular cci400 small rifle primers for my AR rifles. Well, i have yet to use the magnum primers as i still have about 4000 regular cci primers... Anyway, a couple guys i shoot with on the 600yard range swear up and down that i shouldnt use them with 223 AR's to the point they are making me think twice. Ive read numerous times on the hide of some guys all they use is magnum primers with their standard 223 reloads. Im at the point that im not sure and might sell them just to be safe. Am i being too safe or keep them?

Just shoot em up, you wont even notice the difference. I mean it's not like you're going to a 215 primer from a CCI400.

The 450 has a thicker cup, so it is more resistant to slam fires. I only use 450s for my .223 loads.

But if the 400s have been working for you, then I would keep using them.
