So here is a silly question but I'm getting conflicting results. I have a stag arms model 6 with A2 stock. I want to upgrade to a magpul prs. The question is do I also need to order a new buffer tube and spring?
Thanks, and if anyone is looking to unload I would rather buy off the hide so let me know.

Re: magpul prs ?

No. Your A2 tube, buffer and spring will work fine. You will not need the A2 spacer that will be inside the stock.

There is no "commercial" or Mil for A2 tubes. They actually aren't even "A2" tubes. They are just "rifle" tubes. It's the same length tube for the A1 and A2 stock.

I thought on AR platforms that there were the two dimensions?

And I learn yet again....

Re: magpul prs ?

Correct.

The Mil vs. Commercial only applies to the collapsible stock receiver extension.

The Rifle extensions are all the same diameter and length (including AR10)

The only exception is the "entry" tube used on stubby stocks and the Magpul UBR. It looks like a rifle extension, but is about carbine extension length.

Again, to the OP what you have will work fine with the PRS. Just don't use the plastic spacer that is inside your A2 stock.

Re: magpul prs ?

Awesome, thank you everyone for the info. This is my first go around with the AR platform. It sure is a blast, and let me just say, I know the question comes up often as to which AR manufacturer to get and stag usually gomes up eventually and then is forgotton about. This thing can shoot.$995 and its holding .5MOA with nothing special for ammo and the fit on the upper and lower is superb. 24" SS heavy barrel 1-8 twist. Hogue free float tube and hogue pistol grip. Its a lot of gun for the money. This thing is the savage rifle of the AR's. Out of the box its just gonna shoot and its going to hang with the custom rifles for $1500 less.
