This might be a topic for the gunsmithing section, but I thought I would as here as that is where I tend to hang out. Has anyone tried to make there out 155 scenars bullets on a lathe or similar? What results did you have? What material would you recommend for target only? Thanks

Re: Making bullets

Good luck turning bullets on a lathe. Unless you know something about ballistics, metalurgy, have a test barrel set up to obtain pressures, have CNC programming capabilities, CNC machine access, your pissing into the wind.

There are companies that produce turned bullets, but they have all the above, and then some.

Re: Making bullets

I would have to say making your own projectiles would be pissing into the wind onto an electric fence.

Even if you could make them cheaper than say Berger or Lapua with higher performance and consistency (which I highly doubt) it would take forever to come out ahead after paying for all the hardware and software you would need.

Re: Making bullets

If you want to swage your own bullets with jackets and lead cores, there are a couple companies that make the equipment. Corbin is one. But what you would spend for the equipment, the dies, the jackets, cores and the time invested, you could buy ALOT of Scenars.
