anyone use a T4 for hunting? ive been set on a t or T2 for a while but i can get the extra butt hook on a T4 for no extra cost. just concerned it might be too heavy. i hunt whitetails, pigs and coyotes, dont do any overnight trips/backpacking type hunts.

Re: manners stocks for hunting

No T4 but I use and have used the MCS-T. It is a fine all-rounder.

Re: manners stocks for hunting

The weight deference is .2 pounds heavier on the T4. I will be using a t4 this year walking the hills of montana and not worried, you should be fine.

Re: manners stocks for hunting

I have 6 T2's. 2 of them are on hunting rifles, you won't be sorry. I have packed my T2 338 Edge for way more miles then I want to think about and have done a couple of backpack hunts with it. No problems. Really the T2/T4 stocks with a 90% shell don't weigh much more than conventional stock...say an HS precision. 2.5-2.75lbs is what my stock normally come in at with a fixed cheek and LOP.

Re: manners stocks for hunting

one thing that came to mind is if i got the 90% carbon fill, the gun would be so light that recoil would start to be a pain in the ass. recoil right now is not bad at all so if a 90% carbon t4 is comparable to the factory stock then all is well. does anyone know how much the factory stocks for sps varmints weigh? manners site says a T4 weighs 2.4 lbs, how much does the carbon fill save on that?

sendero man- i think ive seen you on predator masters before. do you use T4 on any of the rifles you carry out to a stand when you go call?

Re: manners stocks for hunting

It's not the stock that's too heavy. It's the heavy barrel and scope you tend to put on top of one that makes it heavy...

Two T4's in this one...

Re: manners stocks for hunting

Most of the hunting rifles I do get Manners stocks but more often than not it is the SL.

Re: manners stocks for hunting

Built my main hunting gun with one. Its a 7mm RM shooting 180g Bergers. Recoil is not that bad, my son shot his first mule deer with it at 7 years old. It has a fluted #4 Rock and the light fill T4 so its not heavy at all.

</div></div> Well how come your stock has an butt stock that rides a bag like the T2? If he can put that on a T4, why can't Tom put a butt hook on a T2?

Re: manners stocks for hunting

Just waiting on a T1 for hunting now... should be the bees knees.

Re: manners stocks for hunting
