I'm going to be ordering up a new manners stock and am torn between a T5a and a T4a. I've never really used a thumbhole stock before. All of my other rifles are more for hunting and I didn't want a thumbhole in case of a quick running shot. This build is going to be strictly a target rifle. My problem is that I have big hands. Not really fat, but strong and long. I know that sounds bad. Do any of you ever have issues with the stock rubbing on your thumb? I looked at getting an AICS but have heard about thumbhole size issues.

Thanks
Brad

Re: Manners T5a

I have a T-5A. I am still trying to get used to the thumb hole as it is my first. I actually wish that I had got the T-4 since that is what I am used to.

There is no comfort issues with it. I definitely like it over the AICS.

Re: Manners T5a

The thumbhole is quite a bit larger than the one on the AI. You won;t be sorry

Re: Manners T5a

Rifle will mainly be used for banging steel and paper. We have a F-class league about an hour away that I've been thinking about trying out. Prone and from a bench are the only ways this thing will be shot. TD, I looked at buying that stock but at the time was leaning more towards an AICS. Damnit!

Re: Manners T5a

My $00.02.... If I were buying a stock for prone and bench work, I would go with the T4A. Im a huge fan of both the T4 and T5. I fund that the T5 helps with positional work during comps. It always puts your hand where it needs to be without the user having to think about it. But on the other hand, I enjoy the T4 when shooting prone and for normal range trips.

Both stocks have functioned perfectly for me at the range and in many comps. If you go with either one, you will be happy.

Re: Manners T5a

I love the T5a, it would be nice if you could get behind one of each first and try it though. Stocks are such a personal preference and what is great for me, might be OK for you...

Re: Manners T5a

Well, I ordered up my stock today. I went with a T4a instead though. I just had a tough time spending $1200 on something I wasn't sure I was going to like. I'm familiar with A2's, etc. I ordered it with the mini chassis and dark urban flecktarn paint job. The next 15 weeks are going to be tough while I wait for it to get built.

Re: Manners T5a

Congrats on your first Manners stock. I have the Manner GAT. Let me just warn you that the wait gets really tough toward the end, especially the last 2 wks (I ended up upgrading my shipping to the 2 day one). But it will definitely be worth it.

Re: Manners T5a

You have to remember for 1200 you have the mini chassis included so factor in a Badger bottom metal and then on top of that he has a custom paint job so it si not that expensive for the standard stock so take 200 off for a single color and then compare the T5A with the badger Ord manufactured mini chasis to an AICS and you are well in front in terms of feel and function.

I run mine with a stock pack and it is perfect for me. My stock pack is not that thick though, so you may be fine. Very comfortable stock to be behind.

I had a Rem 700 SPS Tac w/ NF Base, .885 NF rings, and NF 5-22x56mm Scope mounted on the GAT. LOP is 13.5 inches. I ordered the GAT without considering LOP and cheek Weld. I either got lucky or Manners designed it well. It fits me perfectly w/ or w/out my Tac-op stock pack. I actually got to try a T5A thumb grip and liked the grip a little better, but the GAT is lighter and more compact. A much better stock than the B&C A3 I had. I was hitting targets out to 1000m my first time out at that distance with ease. Worth every penny.

Re: Manners T5a

Knight, I already know this won't be my last Manners. I just wish they made a mini chassis for M70's. I have a 7wsm that's going to need a new barrel and a new stock here in the next year or so.

Give it time... even without the mini, you cant beat a Manners Stock.
