Mapul 20 round mag reliability?

Hi guys, I have several 30 round pgams that have all worked flawlessly. The gray follower doesnt allow tilt in any position of its travel. I just received a few 20 round pmags yesterday in a trade and they seem to tilt much easier. The first few rounds I loaded all jammed. I inspected the mag and follower and it seems that the follower can be influenced to tilt much easier that my 30 round mags.


Did I get older mags? or are all 20 round pmags like this?

I haven't experienced that at all?? I'd say the followers have been changed but that's a guess without seeing them!!

I bought some older 20 rounders a while back, sometimes, well most of the time they wouldn't feed, it was like there was some extra pressure on the feed lips kind of 'holding tight' to the round. After the mag springs broke in all was well.

ran one in my AR build and a friends Shrubmaster the other day and had no issues. it has a black follower and tilts like a sumbitch. that was the first time it had been loaded and used.

I have a couple 10/20 round pmags and they work fine. Followers tilt a bit but not bad.

the new followers are 2nd to none, loading the rounds bind a little in the pmags but the run really really good

I've never had a problem with them 10/20 that is.

I've ran several hundred rounds through the ten or so I have, and haven't experienced any issues.

I bought 2 for testing and they have become my favorites with 1K flawless rounds in three different uppers. Regards

hmmmm, I have probably north of 3k rounds through six 20 rounders and have yet to have any mag-related issues. Can't see what folowers are in them until I get back to the States in a couple of days but they are about 2 years old as I recall.

I run the 30 rounders in my M-4 and the 20 rounders in my DPMS LR-.308 since that is all that is made unless you have Mid West PX modified ones for a lower round count, which run flawlessly as well. Neither have ever given me issues. Which caliber are you refering to ?

I have a loaded Magpul 20rd P-mag in my duty rifle (Colt 6920) and wear a spare on my duty belt.

What I'm getting at is I trust my life to them, no issues. Seems quite strange you are. Buy some rebuild kits from your favorite firearms parts supplier. Better than buying new!

I use 10/20's for the range cause they're shorter than steel 30's but you can still grab them unlike a 10. The 10th round is tight on a closed bolt, but they are reliable.

Gawd I hate California.
