Marking / IDing equipment

I need to start marking my scopes and red dots that are zeroed for each particular rifle. What's a good way so as not to permanently mark that is discreet or leaves behind tape residue?

Paint pen underneath it.

A paint pen 97% of the time will come off of an anodized surface. 3% of the time you may see microscopic residue.

Oil based paint marker. Amazon sells a good set.

I just picked one up at Walmart to use. They have them in the arts and crafts section. Elmer's Painters ones.

Don’t forget invisible ink. Takes a black light to see. Really good for proving ownership in theft situations.
