My marlin .22 mag I believe is the 882, something like that. I have owned it since I was a kid, it never grouped very well. The trigger is stiff and the barrel rubs all the way down. I can dremel the channel to open it up but its hollow inside the stock under the action so in order to bed it, I would have to fill it up. What have people done to help with this? I have looked but with no results, I cant find anywhere that sells stocks for them or even a new barrel. Also, I may have to upgrade to a rifle basix trigger one day. Any thoughts

Re: marlin .22 mag

I've got an 883 SS with factory lammy stock. Installed a Rifle Basix trigger and it shoots quite acceptible for a 'meat gitter' rimfire...
Don't know of anyone that sells aftermarket stock for the 88x models, just the 917. But the trigger upgrade might help a bit?

Re: marlin .22 mag

That is what I have heard. I think between that and floating the barrel a little better, I should get it to be a better grouper. Not to say its really shitty now, I have taken crows and groundhogs at 200 meters. I just need to up the probability of the occasional lucky shot.

hacksaw, file, sandpaper. it can't truly be free floated due to that darn front mounting bolt, BUT with a little tightening or loosening, it actually works alot like a barrel tuner

a rifle basix trigger will solve the trigger or: MARLIN 882 / 925 / 25 ETC. TRIGGER MOD. / JOB

but that trigger mod isn't as sweet as the rifle basix. 3/4 lb and no creep.

Nice camo job. Your attention to detail is amazing.
