Gunsmithing marlin 883 trigger

i have a marlin 883 ss 22mag. i swear the trigger is set at 10 pounds. has anyone done any stoning on this trigger that could give me some advise. is it worth doing? i figure if i mess it up or dont get it to my satisifaction ill buy a rifle basics.
