Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) is pushing legislation that could prevent churches from protecting themselves with armed security. In the House, this was pushed by Democrat Hank Johnson, who famously suggested that Guam could tip over if too many people were there.

It doesn’t matter how bad crime gets, Democrats continue to push for Americans to be disarmed.

Just last week, there was a shooting at Lakewood Church in Texas.

So now, at a time when more churches are probably considering armed security, Democrats are pushing this. Unreal.

Senate Democrats Push Bill That Could Prevent Churches From Having Armed Security
Senator Edward Markey (D-MA) is pushing legislation that could prevent churches around the country from using a “security services unit” comprised of concealed carriers in congregations, parishes, etc.
The bill is the Preventing Private Military Act of 2024, and it is co-sponsored by Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA).
The text of the bill prohibits “acting as part of or on behalf of a private paramilitary organization and armed with a firearm, explosive or incendiary device, or other dangerous weapon.”
In another portion of the bill, the text provides circumstances that qualify as an action that is prohibited and includes the use of “large capacity ammunition feeding devices,” which is leftist speak for magazines that hold more than ten rounds.

Senate Democrats Propose Bill That Would Criminalize Armed Church Security
A recent Lifeway survey of Protestant pastors shows that armed congregants protect more than 50% of protestant churches. While these security arrangements vary in their level of sophistication on a church-by-church basis, nearly the same number of pastors who report the use of armed congregants report that there is an intentional plan in place to prepare for threats posed by an active shooter. Though various state and local laws currently regulate and limit the use of concealed carry weapons by church security teams in various locale, a proposed federal law would criminalize the preparations made by many armed church security teams across the United States.
Sponsored in the U.S. Senate by Senator Edward Markey (D-MA) and cosponsored by Senator Laphonza Butler (D-CA), the Preventing Private Military Activity Act of 2024 widely defines a paramilitary group as any group of 3 or more persons who function under a command structure as a “security services unit.”

Democrats just keep chipping away at gun rights. They know they can’t overturn the Second Amendment – yet – so they just keep making it more difficult for people to own and use guns for protection.

this is yet another democrat abomination. ALL people have or did have the right and ability to protect themselves, their families and their institutions form violence from ANY quarter. this includes, but not limited to christians, budists, hindus and yes jews and muslims. it does not give them the right to use those institutions for the use of their own violence or coercive control methods. being a very long term and very convinced atheist,i find myself becoming more aligned with conservative christian thinking on many issues. yes, christians are being targeted for gov persecution and eventual elimination. don't think being a radical libertarian atheist will exempt me form the same gov actions. my multiple data base listing is without doubt.

Almost like he wants Christians to be fearful of assembly. Reminds me of Chyna virus - when they didn't wnat anyone who might be conservative congregating, well either that or they are planning something in churches.

Just Christian churches or all places of worship?

What are the odds Jewish synagogues refuse to follow this if it's somehow passed? Something about history or something

What's next? A bill that criminalizes LE from responding to a shooting at a church?

All his rhetoric doesn't add up to shit if there aren't willing enforcers.

R

Where you paying attention for the last few years? Covid taught us the majority of police will do their job and enforce any unjust law they are told to.

Is it me or do all these old dried up scumbags in congress look the same?

It’s too bad our crop of politicians couldnt have been governing in France. In 1786…..

These scum can't be voted out. It's too bad we don't teach the writings of the Founding Fathers in high school history class. I don't think true history is taught, anymore. The left has changed history, instead teaching the woke, globalist agenda to the lemmings who vote for this pos and Blumenidiot, behind him. The USA and the great state of Massachusetts will be better off when these two are worm food.

That`s correct. Make procuring, owning, and using a firearm, ANY firearm, such a PITA/expensive that people over time will say, " To hell with it, it`s just not worth the hassle". That, coupled with just a continuous anti-firearms, anti-shooting sports drum beat, particularly directed towards young people, will result in a slow disarmament of the American citizenry. At least that`s the plan, IMHO.
