Re: MAY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Hope I post all this correctly. First outing. This was a lot of fun and quite the learning experience.

New gun just acquired and setup on Friday May 6th. Second time to fire gun. Bipod is not attached it is just propped up for the picture.

P5070010.jpg

Target shot at 7:00 PM wind gusty 7-12 mph from 5 o'clock to 11 o'clock and 88 degrees. I tried to shoot in between the gusts, but wasn't always successful.

It does not take a lot of wind to blow these little bullets all over the place.

I fired CCI "Target" black label for this first time out and they did very well.

I made myself a promise to practice and do better next time out.

Thanks for putting this together.

STAGE 3:__10____
STAGE 4:___0____
STAGE 5:___0____

TOTAL SCORE MINUS PENALTIES:___40___

NOTE ANY PENALTIES:
Missed the cold bore, only hit one number I wasnt supposed to and clean missed 3 others, 2 shots missd on stage 3, went for the 30 pt dot to make up points and missed, and killed the hostage.

Over all, complete opposite of last time I did this. WIND!!! ha as I was hoping to break 200 this month, I couldnt break 50. The wind was very strong and very eradict. In other words, I need to practice wind more I spose. I had 1 wind flag up. Only prob, it never went anywhere but straight sideways, that is until it just blew over and I left it. Tough to gauge speed, as it went from very fast to super fast and switched from 9-3 to 11-5 quite often.

Re: MAY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

I'll try and get the Tactical Target done next time I'm at the range, but here's my entry. Shot individual targets, not the 5-bull one.

User Name: Travis Mihm
Match: 25Y-4P
Sight Class: S
Rifle: Marlin 925
Caliber: .22LR
Ammo: CCI Std.
Prone supported: 50-3x
Prone: 49-3x
Sitting: 49-2x
Kneeling: 47-0x
Off Hand: 42-1x
Total Score: 237-9x

Offhand was horrible. I couldn't really get hunkered down good because I forgot to wear boots, and I haven't shot it in a while. Blew my final score up, I'll have to do better next time!

Re: MAY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Here's my tactical target for the month. I started off pretty well and then began to get a little loose there toward the end. Very happy with the 5 shot group though, .326" was the best group I had shot to date with that rifle until I shot for groups after I was done with this target.

I'm pissed about stage 4. I spent yesterday shooting bullet holes at will. When I needed the shot, I blew it. Good thing June is just a few days away.

Re: MAY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

First off feel free to not count this score as I had already gave the target a go earlier in the month before I realized that stage 3 was a 5 round group shot not a know your limits circle

Here's the link to that posting:

Anyways wanted to give it another go to get ready for Junes challenge. I came very close to blowing stage 4 but managed to catch the corner of the 1/4" dot so I felt fortunate but it caught up with me on the last hostage square thinking I had just about cleared the target lol.
Good fun and thanks for the challenge !

Re: MAY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

I didn't get a chance to shoot the comp target this month.... maybe June.

Re: MAY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

hey bubbajoe, you scored stage 3 wrong. Easy mistake I see all the time. Done it myself. You got 4 hits (+40) and 1 miss (-10) resulting in a total of 30 pts.

regardless, good shooting. I know all about the shooting where you want until a unexplained flier comes along...I usually blame the ammo!!

May seems to have whooped most with weather, either tornadoes, wind, rain, floods or something. Let's just hope that all usual shooters are safe and keep in our thoughts those that have had a disaster hit them, that they recover well.

Welcome new shooter AQUATIC_ROBOTIC and ATONE who posted a great score, hopefully June will provide us all with more time and better conditions to have more competition.

As we head into June and summer, let's give a shout out to all the father's out there for father's day and remember to give your " 'ol man" a shout out too - and don't forget to fly the colors on flag day this month.

Re: MAY 2011 SH SHORT RANGE RIMFIRE COMPETITIONS

Thanks for throwing me in there anyways and for the welcome TP !
Looking forward to trying some of the other challenges this month also.
