anybody know anything about mcgowans drop in savage barrels? are they good, bad, are they reaaly drop ins? are they worth it?

A good source of information or at least experience on Savages can be found at savageshooters.com, go to the forums and loook for a topic called aftermarket barrels.

I've got several for personal use, and have sold quite a few to other folks.

Their reamer inventory is growing all the time, much faster than the website is updated.

They are "really" drop-in's. Buy one of McCree's excellent barrel nut wrenches, a quality aftermarket recoil lug and rent or buy headspacing gauges.
