Mcgowan barrels

I have recently acquired a 18" McGowan Ar barrel chambered in .264lbc. I am out of town and wont be able to get it mounted on an upper for quite some time. So my question is does anybody know about these barrels? I have found mixed reviews about McGowan bolt gun barrels but nothing about these. It also has a rifle length gas system... It seems kind of short to me for a rifle length gas tube. By the way its a 1:8 twist
