Can you remove the bolt on your A6 short action without removing the check piece?

I had to dremel the notch in the cheek piece a lot so I could. I painted it after so it doesn't look bad.

I have the same issue with my A5 long action. Have to remove cheek piece to remove bolt.

I think McMillan should has set their cheek pieces farther back like on the Sentinel. No issues with that one, and the cp is more comfortable being farther back. I feel like the back of my jaw doesn't have much to rest in with the cp being so far forward.

What works for you won't necessarily work for many others.

It's not a custom stock.

True. Cheek rest position is dependent on a number of things, including scope type and mounting location, ‘eye box’, shooter physiology and personal preference. You did fine to modify it to your needs. That’s what I would have done if needed.

You should see some of the mods I’ve done to both low end and high end rifles just make them fit me right.

I hear you there. I recently had to remove some material from a brand new ASR chassis.

Some material had to be removed from the inside of the aluminum hand guard to make it fit over the top corners of a bat action that has flats on its sides. The more experienced I get and try new things, the better I get at using a Dremel and file.
