I've been interested in a getting a McMillan A3 with Edge fill as part of a lighter weight tactical rifle I want to build.

The experience has been a bit frustrating. With the Edge fill option, I can no longer get molded-in camo, nor can I get the adjustable butt pad spacer system.

I haven't asked McMillan directly yet, but I'm curious to know if anyone with an Edge filled A-series stock has installed a Karsten cheek-piece? My plan is to do so, but with all the apparent restrictions on this stock I'm second guessing myself.

Can I drill through an Edge-filled buttstock and install a Kydex cheek-piece?

    Thanks

I wouldn't drill through it. Better to use a stock pack to give you extra height, or GI foam pad& 100mph tape. I've found no need for a cheek piece on my A3 EDGE with a 56mm scope, though. Since buying my first EDGE i've replaced all but one of my other stocks with them. There is no other way to go...

I've done the stock pack option. The Velcro straps interfere with my rear bag.

I need an adjustable cheek piece for a proper cheek weld.
