mcmillan a4

Re: mcmillan a4

Kris,

The "best" for what purpose? A McMillan A4 is around 4.5 lbs with sniper fill. Add a stock Rem 700 26" PSS or VLS barreled action in 308, and your over 10.5 lbs of rifle before optics, bases, rings, and bipod are even added.

Weight is good for some applications and not so good for others. The A4 is a fine stock though.......

Re: mcmillan a4

I have an A4 and love it. Not the best stock to use for certain things, but for range and prone shooting I love it. It will be one heavy SOB. I have a Rem 700P with bipod and A4 plus NF NXS and it all weighs 15lbs about. Just lettin ya know how much it weighs.

Re: mcmillan a4

if your looking for a donor action candidate, an SPS tactical or varmint or the new one with the threaded end for cans. was it a particular model that you wanted to know about? wouldnt any 700 barreled action fit? short and long action versions being taken into account of course. oh and keep the 10/22 for cheap practice. look at local shops. i have several that will order a rifle for 10% over their costs. gunbroker, gunlist and guns america are all good places to look for price references and bud's guns is a good online retailer. check the classifieds here too. there is always a 700 for sale and a few A4s ready to go also
