I'm ordering a McMillan stock. Are the factory pillars any good. They sure are a lot thinner than what I have always used in the past. Just has me wondering a bit if I should have them do them, as it would be easier than doing it my self after I get the stock.

I had them put in on my stock, I didn't think they where thin, it makes for a very nice finished product.

I always prefer to do the pillars during bedding. The main reason I prefer this method is you can setup the bottom metal and action using the pillars externally to ensure the rifle will function and cycle properly. I have received stocks with pillars installed at improper heights for the particular action and bottom metal I am using.

I prefer the pillars that LRI makes and sells through grizzly
