I'm sure this has been discussed but I need to ask the question..

I have a McMillan A5 that has been inlet for a Badger BDL bottom metal. Can i switch the Badger BDL with the Badger M5 DBM that accepts the clips? If so is it a direct fit replacement or do I need to have a gunsmith mill the stock?

thanks

Re: McMillan Stocks and Bottom Metal

Nah its a bit of a PITA to do yourself. I have my own mill and would still pay someone to do it cause I SUCK with it. I think the mag area is the only thing that needs loving to fit the M5. Don't remember from when i did mine but it took me a while milling a bit then test, mill, test, mill, and test. If I was to charge myself what I charge uncle sugar to be in the desert it would have cost about $200. McM will change the inlet for like $65 and shipping. After which it will fit like a glove. I had another stock done using them and it was about a 2 week turnover. which was no biggie since I had a 90 day turnover from leaving to coming back.

I know this is an old thread but I want to chime in and agree with the folks saying send it off. I installed a hawkins M5 dbm yesterday into my Bell and Carlson long range hunter that was originally a dbm. It took me about 5 hours with a dremmel and a die grinder but I got it feeding flawlessly in the 25 rounds Iv shot it.
