McMillan tac 300

hey guys, im thinking of buying a 300wm and am pretty interested in McMillans tac 300. has anyone here got any experience with one, what do you think of it, or any other advice? did a search on McMillan here and found nothing on this particular rifle. cheers

For some reason you will not find much love for these rifles on this board. Ive seen it asked a few times and most responses say you could build something nicer for less. I think they look awesome and probably shoot like a laser but they are always a thousand to a couple thousand bones more expensive than other reputable builders. Bring down the prices and I bet you would see more of these popping up.

huh ?!cheers Derrick, i thought there would be at least a few guys owning one of these. so apart from the lack of love for the Mcmillan what would you guys suggest for a quality factory 300 ?

If you are willing to spend that much why would you want a factory rifle.

But if you are set on high end factory stuff you might consider an Accuracy international,Sako trg-42,or maybe a Blaser.

thats true , you could get a custom done , that said there is only a couple of smiths in ireland , its not like the US , not a big deal to order from abroad i suppose though. whats wrong with a quality factory rifle though ? the mcillans are expensive i agree

Nothing wrong with a good factory rifle but i believe the cheapest package of the particular model you are looking at is over $5000. For that amount of money you could have one custom built from the ground up with all of components exactly how you want them and probably have a good chunk of money left over to spend on optics.

Those McMillans look very nice-but pricey. I shoot an HS Precision HTR in 300 win mag and I love it. This is an extremely well put together and accurate gun for the money. I would recommend them to anyone looking to buy a heavy magnum gun.

You can build one of of better quality for less, The action is nice with a double ejector system though is it really needed?

You can get the action for about a bill (maybe $1200 though), and they are pretty nice.

Worth 5k, nah
