McMillan w/Surgeon 1086 inlet - what other action?

I have a McMillan stock inletted for a Surgeon 1086 action - with the wait times to obtain a new 1086 action getting VERY long, thinking of using another brand of action.

What other actions out there will work/be a close fit in the 1086 inletting??

My local smith got a Remington short action to work in an A5 inleted for a surgeon action. Not sure if the same applies for a long action. It wasnt perfect but I also wasnt building a masterpiece.

I would imagine any Long Action Remingto clone will work. The only difference should be the bolt handle cutout as Surgeon's have straight bolt handles and almost all other Remington Clones have swept back bolt handles, but that is an easy fix. Of course whatever you choose to go in its place will have to be properly bedded.

I was thinking of using Bighorn's new sporter action with the integral recoil lug.

Any other help / ideas??
