So I've got the ole refund coming in soon and it's enough that I've been thinking about restocking my Remington 700 with a McRee T-mag chassis. However, before I decide I'd heard that the chassis doesn't really work well with the Alpha Industries magazines. I've heard that they're a very tight fit or that they don't feed reliably, which has me a bit concerned. I'm not married to the Alpha mags so if I have to sell them and start using AI magazines again that's fine by me, AI has great CS anyway if I have an issue. It was just something that I was wondering about.

Oh does anyone know how much a T-mag folder weighs for a Remington 700 SA?

mtnhntr, thanks for your offer but I'll pass. Also be careful with a post like that, it can be interpreted as you trying to skirt around the for sale rules here, which will get you a time out. I'm sure you're just trying to help but I'm just sayin'.

ssnfa, I did call McRees Precision today however I didn't get Scott, I guess it was his wife that I talked to, but she thought that it should work fine. I'll try to send an email later.

That is the truth! You will not find a better guy to deal with. That is what is great about our soprt and this industry awsome people to deal with.

    Re: McRee Chassis

Scott used to be better to reach. He has not returned my last few emails concerning one of his chassis for my TRG. I ended up getting XLR since Kylie can be reached.

Something to be said about being about to reach the company you are going to dump $1,000 on.

    Re: McRee Chassis

I just received my Mcree chassis last week from a SH member, The Mcree mags are what I bought and they seem to feed fine. I have seen Scotts post on here, seems like a really honest guy. Never heard a bad thing about Mcrees customer service. One of the reasons I picked Mcree.

    Re: McRee Chassis

Scott makes an awesome product. Just received my Chassis not to long ago and I couldn't be more pleased. Not sure on the alpha mags but I haven't had a problem with my AI mags.

I just made the jump from the XLR chassis to this and I personally am more happy with the Mcree's.

Regarding the phone calls. When dealing with any of these mom and pop, die hard shooting enthusiasts. I have always found it hard to get in touch, not just Scott. I've had the same issues with Kyle at XLR and Jim at Northland.

Most of these places don't have a very large staff, if any at all.. (besides their spouses) I feel they make up for it with the service and products they provide when you finally do get in touch. Scott, Kyle and Jim are no exception. Great guys! great products!

You dont have the PRIVLEGE to sell items here yet. Read the rules.

McRee chassis run Alpha mags just fine. My 300WSM build runs the Alpha mags perfectly. It's a Surgeon 591 action.

    Very well said!!

    Re: McRee Chassis

I love my Mcree and the CS is the best I've dealt with. I have one for a Rem and one for a savage and neither with feed or load from Alphas smoothly, Then again neither will my AI. I finally switched back to AI and scrapped my Alphas the AI run great in all my stocks and chassis with no "tweaking"

    Re: McRee Chassis

i am more than happy with my mcree. scott and kate are 110% as good as they come in this industry.

i can run the alpha mags no problem in my chassis. if you do switch i wouldn't bother with aics mags. i would just get the mcree mags. they are very well built and less dollars then the aics. same dimensions.

if you buy a gen5 tmag special you will get one with it.

you can see my mcree here.

    Re: McRee Chassis

I've never run Alpha mags in my McRee, only Scott's. Call Scott, he's awesome and great to work with. His system costs massively less then buying a stock, bottom metal, having it bedded, getting a cheekrest, making adjustments to the stock, etc.

Great process- picked the color, picked lefty or righty, accessories and waited for it to arrive. It gets huge looks at the range and is rock solid. You won't regret working with Scott.

    Re: McRee Chassis

Last weekend I finally tried out my McRee stock. I picked up an AI mag, things worked perfectly from start to finish. McRee puts out a excellent product and it offers a great value over the other aftermarket stocks.

    Re: McRee Chassis

Just a nugget of info...Alpha Mags were also very tight fitting in my XLR to the point where I couldn't use them.
