Hey guys just wondering if anyone out there is running c product 10 or Alpha Type 2
Round mags in their short action McRees chassis and what they think of them (pros/cons)? Also recommendations?
    Thanks gents!

I don't want to talk out of my butt about something I don't know about. I know this, the Alpha Type 2 is going to give you the ability to load out to 2.985 and if the McRees takes all AI type mags, then the Alpha will work in it. I know nothing about the C Products other than the company was sold and quality might be suspect.

I wanted to try some of the C products mags so I ordered them direct, my card was charged. After two weeks and no product I called them. Calling every day, it took a week to get ahold of someone. I got a big apology and was told they were doing inventory and the mags would ship the next day and I would get a tracking number. Needless to say they did not ship, and after another week of calling I finally got ahold of the guy and canceled the order. I refuse to buy C products anything now and do not recommend them

Thanks for the input I was hoping someone would have some experience with the discontinued mags. I happen to have the 10 rd mag and it feeds decently. Guess I should get an alpha and a ai mag and run a comparison.

Bringing this back to life. Anyone out there running Alpha Type 1 or 2? I'm interested in the Type 2's. I'm having trouble feeding the first round on these AICS type C-Product 10 round mags.

I run a Alpha Type 1 in a McRees with no problem. I had to adjust the feed lips a little to run in my factory AAC SD. Rounds would get stuck under the feed ramp. I just ordered 2 Type 2s. I will let you know when I get them.

I like the mags as they are compact.

Awesome definitely let me know how those type 2's work out. I really want them due to the fact that they are compact and a touch longer than the type ones.... not sure why I'm having first round feeding problems out of the C-Product AI type mag. Its like the first round will slide forward every time I insert the mad regardless of how i insert it. Then won't feed unless I give it a little nudge back where its supposed to be but the mag will still lock in place.

I get the same issue. Do you have a Remington action? I shot a fair amount of comps and have made it habit to always slide the round back. The failure to feed has got me quite a few times. I think the feed ramp on the Remington is a little to long. I am building a bighorn so I will also let you know if it is still an issue once it is done.

Yup Remington short action. Thanks for the info. I kinda want to file the feed ramp down a little on the Remington action make it more of a 'U' type shape instead of the wide v-ish sorta shape. may pick up that round a bit easier. But I'm definitely no gunsmith and don't know enough to make that decision or if its even something worth thinking about.

Do the McRee branded mags work with it? My Savage has never fed good until I put it in the McRee, now its perfect....

Maybe a pic or two of the mags, with your GF holding them??

haha Girlfriend? what girlfriend, she just fun on call.

I have a C-Product AI type mag. C-Products doesn't make them anymore. I have been looking into the McRee mags but they have been out of stock for a while now. I also like the idea of the Alpha Type 2's cuz the are just a tad bit longer, so when I do get a press and start reloading I will have just a touch more room in the mag.

The Remington feedramp needs a notch cut into it for the type 2 to work. If there is no notch and rds are loaded long they will catch on the underside of the feedramp. If rds or loaded shorter oal, they can slide forward in the type2 and then catch under the feedramp, unless it is notched.

That's what I needed to hear. I am not reloading yet.

Can this be done at home with a file and then smoothing it out? If a gunsmith would need to do it, would he have to dissemble the barrel from action?

The barrel doesn't need to come off, but it would definitely need to have some non chlorinated brake cleaner sprayed inside the action/lug/chamber/down the bore to flush any metal out. Otherwise the bolt lugs could get galled or damaged. I have never done it before but seems a 3/16" end mill is preferred. Probably a better question posed in the gunsmith section or search.
