Hiders,
MCS-TCS arriving Monday - mocking up the build - field experienced personal input requested

Planned core parts-
Action: Zeus QC
Trigger: TT Special (considering TT Duty possibly rough Diamond)
Barrels: (2 × pre-fit .308 / 7.62 NATO)
  • Multi-caliber / liberal .308: slightly flexible chamber to reliably accept a variety of .308 / 7.62 NATO brass and lots; general-purpose, conversion friendly end state
  • Match-specific 168/175gr: tight, ogive-matched throat/reamer cut optimized for 168–175gr match bullets - the hammer for sub-0.5-MOA work. (Future dedicated barrels in 6.5 / 6mm / .243 Win optional)
Preferred pre-fit makers: Proof, Preferred, Krieger, Bartlein (open to other top shops)
    Caliber start: .308 (non-negotiable) - platform designed to grow into 6.5 / 6mm / .243 / 5.56 in time
Glass: seeking advice on a 25×56 (thereabouts) FFP MOA optics and simpleton-friendly reticles - Zero Compromise, Tangent Theta, Zeiss (also open to Nightforce, Leupold, Kahles, March etc.)
T&P:
Task: Fit the Zeus QC into the MCS-TCS, install and check headspace two match pre‑fit barrels (one more liberal based) multi‑caliber .308 - the next (more conservative based) 168/175gr match) possibly tune the trigger, and run systematic load development in .308 to establish baseline accuracy expectations in mind.
Purpose: Build a modular precision platform that can do two things - run general .308/NATO reliably for versatility and run a dedicated match chamber capable of sub‑0.5 MOA accuracy with 168/175gr bullets - down the road purchase 6.5 (and or) 6cm, .243win, .223/5.56 NATO etc.

Any other considerations, tradecraft, tips & tricks welcomed-

Thanks Hider's!

The OP post #3 is clearly AI as it relied on a fairly deep search of 10 yr old posts on other forums.

What a way to wake up at 0400 only to read that the same person is still screaming about AI.

Did Crazy Cora donate your chaps to the Aborigines or is she still calling you Roy?
You went from: "I think it's AI" to "It's definitely AI" to "It's clearly AI" - seems a bit ambiguous.
Here is a fact: You're assuming - aka guessing - Is your shooting as liberal as your theories are?

In no short measure, you have:
• Tried to insult my character - bullying implying that I’m lying after I literally told you what I used.
• Flip-flop your opinion multiple times likely to flex your muscles on the new guy - not impressive.
• Contributed zero value to the thread after requesting input on and just managed to cry about AI.

Behavior like this strongly suggests insecurity especially bullying new people simply seeking input.
Most people treat others with decency, respect and common courtesy - vs bullying in open forum.
Can you positively contribute here or is it your intent to keep going w/ the shenanigans from afar?

"Be advised, I'm mean, nasty, and tired. I eat concertina wire and piss napalm, and I can put a round
through a flea's ass at 200 meters. So why don't you go hump somebody else's leg mutt-face, before I
push yours in.

Well you must have one hell f a budget, which is grate for the rifle build you want to do.

Now on to your questions......

"Caliber start: .308 (non-negotiable) - platform designed to grow into 6.5 / 6mm / .243 / 5.56 in time"
The only issue I see here, is the Zeus QC has a fixed bolt face, so in less you plan on getting a second bolt, I would just stick to the 0.470 (308) bolt face cartridge's, like 6.5mm/6mm Creedmoor, 243 Win.

"Preferred pre-fit makers: Proof, Preferred, Krieger, Bartlein (open to other top shops)"
I would talk to Zeus and see who they recommend and even see if you can get a price break combo deal for the action with a barrel. For 308, I would stick with a 20 inch barrel if you plan on putting a can on it, with 24 inches being max. I will also add PVA as a top barrel MFG you should also look into as an option besides the others you have listed. I would also stick with a 10:1 twist rate.

"Match-specific 168/175gr: tight, ogive-matched throat/reamer cut optimized for 168–175gr match bullets - the hammer for sub-0.5-MOA work. (Future dedicated barrels in 6.5 / 6mm / .243 Win optional)"
I would plan on just using the 175gr to 178gr bullets or ammo form the start if you want to get full distance. I would look at Berger, Seaira and Hornady for bullets and loaded ammo. Lapua if you can find it at a decent price.

"Glass: seeking advice on a 25×56 (thereabouts) FFP MOA optics and simpleton-friendly reticles - Zero Compromise, Tangent Theta, Zeiss (also open to Nightforce, Leupold, Kahles, March etc.)"
I would stick with Nightforce, Leupold, Kahles, Zeiss. With Kahles being the first and Nightforce-Zeiss being a tie. Another option is Schmidt and Bender, they are right up there with Kahles. For the mount, I would look at ARC for rings or their one pace mount.

I talked w/ Jim at PBB to gauge turnaround times, and at 8-12 weeks - barrel out the door w/ a nice discount, it was a no brainer, so I went ahead and ordered one. I'll have to wait until Monday to give Terminus a buzz and ask them about savings on a barreled action.

I checked out PVA - The ability to customize your barrel right on the website is great and the turnaround time is only 6-8 weeks.

Many thanks Phil!

Ok, I take it back and apologize, it seems you are real. Last time I checked Zues actions were available. Enjoy
