Hello all. Rick from Maryland here.
The wife recently gave me permission to get into something I've wanted to do since getting out of the military in '92. Long range precision shooting! She has always been super anti-gun, but with explanations of how I'll keep it safe, locked, and away from the kids when not with them, she gave me the go ahead.
I've been looking into it for years, and over the last few months I've done a lot more research (including a few lurks here without registering). So once I go the all clear, I rattled off a bunch of purchases to be set to start.
Like tons of others, I've got a Ruger Precision in 6.5 creedmoor, that is sitting at my local FFL as of yesterday (purchased new from Grab-a-Gun). I got the vet discounts set up through Expert City, which allowed me to get a Vortex Razor HD 5-20x50 in mil/mil at a killer price. Got a Harris bi-pod - but didn't have an adapter for it, so I ordered one on Sunday based on a recommendation from a thread here on the Hide.
Picked up 5 different boxes of ammo varying from 120gr. to 147 gr. to see what the rifle likes. Looking forward to getting my range card and heading over to shoot. Long term goal would be to get into regional PRS matches. I know there is a series in the Westminster, MD area, which is only about 45 minutes from me.
Super psyched!
