Meanwhile, while you were arguing with idiots on the internet...

Permitless carry aka Constitutional carry is good news and long overdue.

OP, can you clarify the second part of your statement "expunge the records of those previously convicted for the violation of the laws this bill repeals?"

Does that mean someone convicted of crime such as a Class A or B misdemeanor such as DWI that would prevent getting a carry permit is now now expunged?

If you currently have a license, will it make it useless, which means you can no longer skip the background check when buying a gun over the counter?

No. Unlawful carry as a result of lack of license to carry.

Other charges are unaffected.

Ok, thanks.

Also, if you have a permit, keep it as it still lets you skip the background check. From an arfcom thread:

"It still allows skipping the NICS call in, it also changes some definitions of gun free zones. Some places do not allow unlicensed carry but do allow licensed carry. The standard example is public schools. With a license, the school building is a no carry zone. Without a license it is school property. If you park in a school parking lot, or drive on a school owned road to pick up your kids - you are on school property, but not in a school building."

Do current LTC holders get their $40 back? I found a couple rounds of 6.5 Creedmoor I’d like to spend it on.

That’s good to hear for Texas. A bit unexpected from my perspective, but good.

Still have to wait for Senate - please watch premature celebrations. It's a good trend for Texas though. Now we need sanctuary status throughout.

That got out of committee yesterday.

The CC bill that passed the house today is almost identical to the Senate bill 540 that has yet to be heard by State affairs.

So we're linked up with OK that also has CC. Texas and OK have always had a dick measuring contest when it comes to the 2A. If one does something the other has to match it.

Should have always been this way it's begin with.
Have a hard time believing that it's going to pass the Senate...but let's hope.

Undecided on whether or not I would carry

There were already some odd differences. You can already carry in your car "when traveling" even without permit.. if stopped by a cop, you had to disclose only if you were licensed. Sounds like it's going to get more confusing.

TSRA posted a video in the last few weeks in which Abbott said he was working to make Texas a sanctuary state.

I don't think it's gonna be more confusing, except for those individuals who have a problem with permitless carry and/or carry in general.

One of the amendments made it plainly clear that a person being armed is no justification for a LEO contact. Period.

This bill is really gonna curb a lot of “mostly peaceful protests “ out on the interstate, when that cow hauler spools his turbo on his peterbuilt, instead of hitting his jakes!🤣

We got a bill headed to the governor’s desk that says you can run over fucktard “protesters” aka rioters now!
Temper this with some caution. Unless you up armor your ride, protestors can still ventilate a crash vehicle.

Iowa beat ya to it....

Hopefully this logic and progression will go National.

VooDoo
Lots of states did.

It was some comedic relief when we were testifying on HB1238/1911/1927/etc at like 1AM or so and a guy got up there to say "Tennessee just beat us to it. Pass the bill."
