Rifle Scopes meassuring scope height?

Sorry this might be a dumb question but where do you meassure for scope height?

It's not a critical measurement. I generally just take a ruler and measure from the center of the bolt to the center of the scope tube.

If you want to get crazy, take the rifle out of the stock and measure from the bottom of the barrel shank, just in front of the action, to the top of the scope tube or objective. Then measure the diameter of the shank and the diameter of the scope tube or end bell (whichever you measured from before). Subtract 1/2 of both diameters from your first measurement and you're there.

measure w/calipers from the top part of the bottom ring set on the rifle ....to the blowhole

Before you "get crazy", it might be useful to experiment with a ballistic program, and see how much difference changing that measurement by a quarter of an inch makes.

Hint: the answer is, "not much".

right i saw that it did make very little difference, but i was just kind of curious anyway. And i figured i might as well have it as close to correct as i can.
