Medal of Honor

Re: Medal of Honor

60 Minutes did an interview with the guy last Sunday. It was pretty touching. I'd definitely recommend it if you can find the clip online. His humility amid all the clamor is absolutely impressive.

Re: From the book WAR, Medal of Honor recipient Giunta

I was struck by the same line, preceeded by, "I'm an average soldier, mediocre."

I'm proud to live under the same flag that guys like this fight for. He makes me want to be a better person.

Amazing:

SSGT Giunta makes me proud to be a member of the Brotherhood of the Airborne.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">I have ridden the skies in great machines, hooked up and jumped with the best of men. I have fought long and hard, and when I felt I had no energy left, I have been fired by the fear that I stopped fighting, my comrades would die.

And when I was in danger, enemy all around, I heard the thunder from my left and my right,as my life was defended. I have never been alone.

I live, jump, fight and battle to victory with the greatest assemblage of men on earth.

Gentlemen, to the BROTHERHOOD of the AIRBORNE.</div></div>

To the AIRBORNE !

To SSGT Giunta

Re: Medal of Honor

In Junger's book "War" it describes the incident. Junger was a reporter embedded with that unit in the Korengal Valley. The book starts off strong describing life in the valley, but slows at the end.
